12GBs SAS - Rapid Storage Server from Server Store

We're excited to be launching our range of Supermicro based 12GBs SAS-3 server solutions. These systems will be available over both our PowerServe® and PowerStore® range, so can be used for a variety of uses, such as traditional servers, or for storage using our range of storage/SAN software solutions.

12GBs SAS is currently only available for SSD's, as hard drives cannot perform fast enough. There is only a small number of SSD's on the market at the moment, but we will be linking in on our configurable 12GBs SAS models a range of suitable SSD's.

There's a few things to remember about 12GBs SAS. You must use a 12GBs SAS controller with a 12GBs SAS Backplane. You can't go for a 12GBs SAS controller and use it with an 6Gbps SATA/SAS backplane, and visa-versa, you can't use a 12GBs SAS backplane with a 6Gbps SATA/SAS controller. However, as long as both the controller and backplane are correct you can use previous generation drives, such as 3Gbps and 6Gbps SATA/SAS. This gives excellent upgrade potential, as it allows customers to invest in a 12GBs capable system, and use more (current) cost-effective 6Gbps SSD's and Hard Drives.
